Welcome to the twelfth edition of the annual “The Acoustic Egg Box Review Of The Year”. Yes, it’s late again. No, it’s no less rambling. And it certainly doesn’t get any easier to compile, that’s for sure. I started the review this year with 101 albums, which I somehow managed to whittle down to a

By not publishing my review of 2024 until the end of February 2025, it means that it hasn’t been lost amongst all the other reviews of 2024. Anyway, that’s my excuse, and I’m standing by it. Although I’ve always been fanatical about music, in 1979 everything changed. I left school and turned 16 that year, but, more importantly,

“Don’t use cliches”, they say in the “how-to-write-better” manuals, however, hasn’t the year flown by: you’re looking well: haven’t you grown! They say time accelerates as you get older and, worryingly, as I’m about to enter a “milestone” birthday year, it appears that Lewis Hamilton has jumped into my personal cockpit and is now hurtling

I started these “Egg Box Essentials” features last year with the full intention of writing one a month to highlight any interesting titbits I’d heard, watched or read. The two I did put out before a foggy, pandemic-induced malaise robbed me of inspiration, were both well received, and so, armed with a renewed (and hopefully

THE OBLIGATORY INTRODUCTION A warm welcome to readers old, new and indifferent to the annual Acoustic Egg Box Top 30 Albums Of The Year. Yes, it’s late as always (my blog, my deadlines…) and I’d dearly love to say “better late than never”, but unfortunately it’s as ramshackle, inaccurate, and subject to ridicule as ever.
